About Paint Peels™
Paint Peels™ is a project from Katherine Simdon Studios.
It started in my painting practice.
I work in layers. Building up color, letting things shift, sometimes waiting a long time between steps. It’s not a process that translates easily outside of the studio. You can’t really do it in a sketchbook without thick paper and time, and it definitely doesn’t carry over to things like water bottles or laptops.
That’s where Paint Peels came in.
They’re made from my original brushstrokes, turned into something you can actually use. You can move them around, layer them, build compositions, and see what happens all without losing the quality of the original marks.
A Different Way to Work
This isn’t about replacing painting.
It’s just another way to work with color.
Something more immediate. More flexible. You can try things, shift things, change your mind. Use them in a sketchbook, on an object, or as part of something larger.
They’re meant to be handled, not precious.
Where They Show Up
Sketchbooks. Journals. Laptops. Water bottles. Collage.
Places where paint either isn’t practical or just doesn’t make sense.
Use Them However You Want
There’s no single way to use them.
They’re a starting point, a material, a collection, or whatever you want them to be.

Wholesale
Before this, I owned a gallery and gift shop, so I’ve been on the other side of the counter.
I know how frustrating it can be when brands undercut their retailers, which is why I keep promotions intentional and pricing consistent — so shops can feel confident bringing Paint Peels in.
If you are interested in carrying Paint Peels in you shop you can visit our Wholesale Page for more info.
